Guernsey Crowned European Gaelic Football Champions

Luxembourg players from both the championship side and the shield side that competed in Limerick

Congratulations to Guernsey Gaels GAA on winning the third and final round of the men’s European GAA Championship in Limerick after beating Den Haag in the final in the Gaelic Grounds late last Saturday night. The win means they win the overall European GAA Men’s Championship for 2011. Amsterdam were convincing winners for the 2011 shield title and the Belgian runaway winners in the ladies competition. Beir Bua.

Luxembourg continue to build, and while they showed some of their true potential they unfortunately where pipped to a place in the final after Den Haag grabbed a late goal in the semi to resign Lux to a 3rd/4th play-off against Belgium. Having well and truly emptied the tank against Den Haag, Lux had neither the physical or mental capacity remaining to give a fair reflection of themselves, leaving Belgium with a healthy win to claim 3rd place.
All this meant Lux finished 4th in the overall standings for 2011.
